Hello! I am Janko Lam, a Chinese fashion designer and the founder of Classics Anew.
I have taught over 3,000 students from more than 10 countries.

This is Qipao 101, the basic course for making Qipao. Because all training will be conducted online, you can easily learn how to make a qipao at home by replaying the instructional videos.
Through this course, students can learn to measure and observe the characteristics of their body shape, and then modify the qipao to fit their personal shape and size by following the production process step by step to sew their own qipao.

Janko Lam 林春菊 是時裝品牌「新裝如初」的首席設計師及
「華服學堂」的創辦人。
為了能夠更有效地傳承中華文化，她成立了「香港中華文化活動推廣協會」，團結一眾中華文化愛好者共同推廣和傳承日漸式微的中華文化活動。
致力在香港社會及時裝界提升大家對「中華服飾」的關注，Janko參加了香港時裝設計師協會，多年的貢獻和經驗亦獲
香港政府「創意智優計劃」邀請擔任審核委員會的委員。
林春菊成立學堂的初衷是『希望每位華人都擁有一件自己的華服』，她認為華服絕非高不可攀，反而應該是平易近人，不論專業的裁縫或我們身邊的家庭主婦，大家都可通過學習縫紉，
自行設計及製作一件華服，只要有一個良好的學習平台，縫紉亦可像烹調一樣成為家家戶戶都能夠掌握的技巧。

Materials: 2 yards of fabric, 2 yards of lining fabric, color matching thread, 1 zipper

How can I practice qipao making at home?

以我們多年教學經驗及统計，一般情況下學員跟隨我們導師指示製作，約需要6天（共24小時）的時間即可完成製作。而每個人的縫紉根基程度不同，完成時間亦因人而異。

當然可以，古代人也是用手縫製作服裝的，只要您願意花比衣車更多的耐性和時間即可製作完成。如您未懂得手縫技巧，可同時報讀【華服基礎．縫紉必備知識網上課程】https://classicsanew.net/program01 旗袍製作步驟繁複，如配合衣車更會事半功倍。
Of course you can. The ancient people used hand sewing to make their clothes, you can definitely make qipao successfully as long as you are willing to spend more patience and time than a sewing machine. If you don't know how to sew by hand, you can take the 【Basics of Chinese Clothing" online course】 https://classicsanew.net/program01at the same time. The qipao making process is complicated, so if you combine it with a sewing machine, you will get twice the result with half the effort.

布料有什選擇？What are the fabric choices?
此課程希望學員能製作出自己心儀的旗袍，所以學員可自行選購所需布料。
同時，如學員對布料不太熟悉，亦可以加購布料工具包，當中包括比較容易處理及製作的牛仔布作為旗袍布料。
This course is designed for students to make their own qipao, so students can choose their own fabrics. If you are not familiar with fabrics, you can also purchase additional fabric kits, including denim fabric, which is easier to handle and make.
